Privacy Policy – Tareloom

The short version

Your email address is private. It is never shown on the site and is used only to contact you about your submission.
We do not store your IP address in your submission. We store a hashed (scrambled) version that we use to limit spam and abuse.
Your photos stay in a private area until a moderator approves your review.
We do not sell your personal data and we do not send marketing emails.
You can ask us to correct or remove your review and your data at any time.

What we collect

Anti-abuse data	A hashed version of your IP address (not the address itself), your browser’s user-agent text, and the time of submission.	To limit the number of submissions, stop spam and bots, and investigate abuse.
Server logs	Standard technical logs of every visit, such as IP address, time, and the page requested.	Security and troubleshooting. Kept for a limited period.

You can read Tareloom without giving us any personal data. We ask for it only when you submit a review.

How we use it

To read, check, and approve or decline your submission.
To publish approved reviews with your display name, rating, text, and photos.
To contact you about your submission, an appeal, or a question from our moderators.
To detect fake, copied, or manipulated reviews, and to apply our rules fairly.
To keep the site secure and working.
To meet legal obligations and to respond to valid legal requests.

We do not use your data to build advertising profiles, and we do not use your email for newsletters or promotions.

What becomes public

When a moderator approves your review, the following appear on the site: your display name, rating, headline, review text, your photos, the product name, and the publication date. Your email address and anti-abuse data never appear.

Please do not put personal information in your review or photos (see the Review Guidelines). Photos can also contain hidden details, such as the place where they were taken. If you do not want that shared, remove the metadata before you upload.

Once a review is public, search engines and other websites may copy or store it. We cannot control those copies, but we will remove the review from Tareloom if you ask.

Cookies

When you open the review form, we set one small session cookie. It protects the form against forged submissions and is normally deleted when you close your browser. The site needs it for the form to work.

Tareloom does not use advertising cookies or analytics cookies.

Images on review pages are loaded from Tareloom’s own address.

Other services

Cloudflare Turnstile. The review form uses Turnstile to tell people from bots. It checks signals from your browser, and Cloudflare handles that data under its own privacy policy.
Hosting and infrastructure providers. They process data on our behalf to run the site.
Retailers. The “Find Best Price” button takes you to a retailer’s website. From that point the retailer’s own privacy policy applies. See the Affiliate Disclosure.

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. We take reasonable steps to protect it wherever it is handled.

How long we keep it

Published reviews stay on the site until you ask us to remove them, or until we remove them under the Review Guidelines.
Rejected submissions, with their photos, are deleted after 90 days.
Email and anti-abuse data are kept with your submission record, so we can handle appeals and detect repeated abuse.
Server logs are kept for a limited period.
Deleted data may remain in secure backups for a short time before it is overwritten.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

tell you what data we hold about you and give you a copy;
correct data that is wrong, or update your review;
delete your review, photos, and other data;
stop using your data in a way you object to.

Depending on where you live, data protection laws (such as the EU or UK GDPR) may give you these rights by law, and the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

To use any of them, email [email protected]. To protect you, we may ask you to write from the email address you used in the form, or to confirm details of the submission. See also the report page if your request is about content on the site.

Security

Uploaded photos are stored in a private area, outside the public part of the website, until a moderator approves them. Every submission is protected by anti-forgery and anti-bot checks, and every review is read by a person before publication. No online system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. If we learn of a data breach that affects you, we will act as the law requires.

Children

Tareloom is not meant for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has sent us personal data, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Tareloom grows. The latest version is always on this page, with the date at the top.
