Love...if you're an entomologist...

WYZE is probably one of the least effective brands out there when it comes to home camera security. My 4 year old Ring doorbell works significantly better at capturing and recording the movement of people...and that's without a Ring subscription btw. When I received my two WYZE cameras, the setup was easy enough, but I'll refrain from giving any stars for "easy setup", since it would be just as easy to duct-tape a couple of empty soda cans to the outside of my house, at least the cans would actually inform me if a creeper walked by and knocked them off the wall. Moving on, the WYZE subscriptions for service (for each individual camera) are astounding, the cost is waaaay too high for what you get in return. However, had I not paid for these subscriptions, both cameras would've been entirely useless, because the WYZE app does not offer any video cloud storage for those who can't afford an extra bill. After spending that much for any single camera, you'd think WYZE would at least give you a couple months of cloud storage, maybe even extend it a little further with each additional camera purchase. But no...if you can't pay for a subscription, your cameras will only capture photo snapshots. You can always watch the live video feed, but it's not going to be recording any burglars while you sleep. The image quality is okay, up to a distance of roughly 9 yards, but once you zoom in....nope, no discernable facial features, just blurry and pixelated mish-mash. The motion tracking, which is the topmost attribute for any security camera, is unfortunately its weakest link. You can easily spend a couple hours fiddling with every aspect of the camera settings on the app, switching from panning to a stationary zone, or creative combinations of its multiple detection options, and still...your camera is going to chase bugs like a kindergarten soccer goalie. In fact, the pictures I've uploaded with this essay of a review will show you the two things that make this product suck so bad. First, the sheer amount of notifications you'll receive, an average of 3 per minute and believe me, regardless of it saying it's a vehicle...it's always going to be a bug. Second, you'll be getting a lot of REALLY good footage of your soffits and the backside of your fascia, because if you don't keep your camera on the pan setting, every little bug will lead your camera astray and once the lens is focused on your house, where there's no movement, that's exactly where it's going to stay until you check your camera and fix it. So while my Ring catches every passerby, looky-loo, car prowler, porch pirate, UPS dude and pizza delivery guy, storing its footage on the Ring app (default, without its paid services), my WYZE devices are out catching knats and butterflies. These cameras have failed to pick up on sketchy characters while I've watched like a 'Concerned Karen', from my upstairs window, only to check the app and see that once again, these silly little money magnets have zero footage to offer. Get wise, and don't get WYZE.
