Conclusion – Wait for a Fix
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Review – A Missed Opportunity Rating: 1/10 Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (BO6) is, unfortunately, an exercise in frustration. While the game initially gives the appearance of a polished, well-designed experience with slick menus and high production values, the reality of playing it is far from enjoyable. I’ve played 27 games, only to be kicked from 23 of them due to a persistent issue with a message reading: “Connection Failed: Waiting to check permissions [Reason: PUGET-MILAN].” Even in single-player modes like Zombies and Story Mode, I can’t get more than a few minutes in before being disconnected. If you’re considering buying this game, I strongly advise waiting until the developers address the game-breaking problems. Multiplayer – A Chaotic, Frustrating Mess Multiplayer in BO6 suffers from poor map design and spawn mechanics that turn every match into chaotic frustration. Small maps aren’t inherently bad—classics like Shipment and Rust from earlier games prove that. But the small maps in BO6 lack any sense of flow or strategic value. Instead of offering pathways for flanking, tactical movement, or ambushing, the spawns are horrendously broken. Here’s what happens: You spawn and immediately die two or three times in a row without even getting to move. If your team pushes too far forward, enemy players spawn right behind you—punishing you for playing well. Many maps feature open spawns for one team, while the other team spawns behind well-defended cover, creating a lopsided, one-sided match. There’s no time to plan or strategize—it’s just spawn, throw a grenade, kill a guy, and die. Even highly skilled players can’t outmaneuver the broken spawn mechanics, and you never know if your next kill will be the last before you spawn into the enemy’s base and get gunned down. It’s all chaos, with no real focus on objectives, communication, or teamwork. Weapon balancing is another issue tied to poor map design. Only SMGs and assault rifles are truly viable because of the cramped layouts. Snipers, shotguns, LMGs, and DMRs feel practically useless—bringing them to a fight feels like showing up with a knife in a gunfight. While assault rifles feel satisfying at mid-range, SMGs dominate close-quarters engagements, making many weapons classes irrelevant. Zombies Mode – Great Changes, but Marred by Disconnects Zombies mode introduces some long-overdue improvements, like the ability to save progress and return to your game later. This is a much-needed change, as it lets players take breaks rather than being forced to play through multi-hour sessions nonstop. It’s refreshing to finally be able to step away from the game without sacrificing your progress. Unfortunately, PUGET-MILAN disconnects plague this mode just as much as they do multiplayer. Even in a mode designed for solo play, you’ll be kicked without warning, destroying any chance of enjoying this feature. It’s infuriating that a single-player experience can be interrupted by what appears to be a server-side issue. Story Mode – Let Down by Technical Problems The campaign has potential, but it’s almost impossible to appreciate because of the same disconnection issues that haunt the other modes. I can’t even progress through the story without getting booted from the game. With no lag or performance issues during gameplay itself, the fact that I still get disconnected points to poor server management on Activision's part. Even worse, the error message (PUGET-MILAN) is unhelpful—it doesn’t explain what’s wrong or how to fix it. Activision’s customer support has been no help either, with their website constantly experiencing issues and no way to submit support tickets. This feels like the developer is deflecting blame onto players’ internet connections, but my 500 Mbps internet with 15 ms ping isn’t the problem. This has to be a server-side issue, and it’s unacceptable that I’m forced to restart the game and try again every few minutes. Performance and Technical Aspects – Solid, but Wasted On the surface, the game runs beautifully. I get a consistent 150 FPS on my high-end setup (2080 Ti GPU, Ryzen 3900X CPU, 32GB of RAM), with quick load times from my SSD. There are no noticeable frame drops or texture issues. But what good is smooth gameplay if I can’t stay connected long enough to enjoy it? The lack of communication from Activision regarding updates or patches only adds to the frustration. Even after searching online, I found no mention of the PUGET-MILAN error, which suggests that either this issue is being ignored or I'm not the only one affected, and nobody knows what to do about it. Conclusion – Wait for a Fix Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 could have been great, but right now, it’s broken beyond enjoyment. The combination of broken spawns, small and poorly designed maps, constant disconnections, and poor support makes it a nightmare to play. Even in modes like Zombies and Story Mode, which should provide an escape from the chaos of multiplayer, you’ll still get disconnected. I would recommend holding off on buying BO6 until Activision acknowledges and addresses these issues. Right now, the game feels like a half-finished product. Until these problems are fixed, it’s hard to justify spending any money on it.
