Very soft and fruity gummies with some relaxation properties
Nice Orange scent from the container when opened. The citrus flavor is predominantly orange but there are hints of other cirtius flavors. These gummies are very soft and easy to consume, fruit pectin based instead of gelatin based. They are not hard, stick to your teeth like some gummies can be. They are sweetened with and dusted with erythritol crystals. That gives them a little bit of soft grittiness to them instead of being silky smooth. The label claims that it is a 13-in-1 gummy and they list a lot of things that they are supposed to help you with. I'm not sure what they are counting. I can't prove or disprove their claims. Here is what I like or don't like about the product. Like: - Flavor and aroma. Fresh clean orange / citrus scent and flavor. - Product Safety: Double protected. Shrink wrapped outside, foil liner under the cap. - Magnesium 420 mg but it's in a blend with L-Theanine so I can't really know how much magnesium is being provided. Later in the label they list 66 mg elemental magnesium. It's unclear to be if that means that the 420 mg of blend provides 66mg of magnesium or if the 66 mg is in addition to what is in the blend. - 1000 IU of vitamin D - A sleep/relaxation compound that contains chamomile and lemon balm Magnesium is one of the core electrolytes I supplement and so the little bit extra that this provides is helpful. I'm also able to cut out taking the vitamin D gel I have been using. This doesn't help me get to sleep as fast as melatonin does but if I'm restless at night I have often taken herb teas that contain chamomile and lemon balm, so I think these are useful and worthwhile taking. Dislike: - 1 g of FOS. I don't digest this well. They list it as a prebiotic. At only 1g though it isn't a big concern for me. Neutral: - L-Theanine since it is mixed in a blend with the magnesium salts it's unknown how much of the 420 mg is this amino acid and how much of it is the magnesium containing compounds. - Passionflower, Apigenin : no experience with these herbs that supposedly have beneficial relaxation properties. - B6, Zinc I don't see why these would be useful for relaxation. - Ashwagandha 40 mg of 40:1 extract should be equivalent to 1.6 g of root. This is only about 1/6th the amount that I've seen tested in studies that I've read about using it as a sleep aid. Some of these ingredients (like chamomile and lemon balm) are ones that I've used in herbal teas for relaxation. In addition to the ingredients I think that the whole ritual of brewing and then enjoying a warm soothing beverage add tremendously to the relaxation experience. I'm not sure that taking a gummy, even if it provides the same levels of therapeutic compounds, will produce as good of an experience. Yes, taking a gummy is quicker than brewing tea and sipping it, if you are in a hurry. But, if you are in a hurry, maybe that is why you're having trouble getting to sleep. Just something to think about.
