Worst styling tool I've ever used. Just get the Shark.
I don't normally leave reviews, but this is probably one of my most disappointing purchases, so here we go. I have the original Revlon blow dry styling brush from the mid 2010's-ish that I LOVE & have used for years. Sadly, it's finally started to give out and I decided it was time for an upgrade. Like most people, I was torn between the Dyson or Shark, but decided that I'd take a look at a more affordable option first since I loved my original Revlon brush so much. This 2.0 One-Step Volumizer seemed to be like the perfect replacement - it's detachable head is super convenient for storage/travel, and I loved that it also had different temperature options. Also, you know, classic Revlon red and black, what's not to like? I was SO excited for this product, but that being said, I genuinely have never used a worse hair styling tool in my life. For reference, I have layered waist-length hair with a slight wave pattern. After my old Revlon styling brush began to die, I started using it only on my bangs and typically style the rest with overnight braids or heatless curls. Still, my half-dead original 1" barrel Revlon would have done a better job at giving me a basic blowout than this updated version. This product promises volume and lasting curled edges for "salon-like blowouts at home", and while it did smooth and dry my hair nicely, it absolutely failed at everything else. My hair is completely flat, even after holding each section fully wrapped around the brush and setting with a cool shot, and any "curled edges" I was able to achieve lasted exactly 10 minutes WITH hairspray. As I write this, my hair is so pin straight it genuinely would have had more curl and volume if I'd just left it to air dry. This is not even mentioning the fact that the smaller fiber bristles curled back and splayed out flat after using it for the first time on high heat after only 10 minutes (see pics). I immediately dropped down to medium after noticing this, but it still managed to get hot enough to cause visible heat damage to a small portion of my hair - and that was with a heat protectant leave-in already in my hair. In all my years of using actual heat tools (curlers/straighteners/wavers) I have NEVER once experienced any heat damage from styling until this tool. Overall, I love Revlon, but this product is horrible and I genuinely don't understand how it has such good reviews. It is NOT designed for long hair (even layered), and tangled/pulled out a decent amount of mine despite claiming it wouldn't. I guess it's possible mine was defective, but I'm not willing to risk a second try, and will be returning it immediately. If you have short to mid length hair and want it to be smooth, straight and flat, then this might be for you. Otherwise, save yourself the money and heat damage and just get the Dyson/Shark.
