A lot better than using your change pocket to retain your keys!!
Initial Impressions Honestly, this clip outperformed my expectations. I was skeptical when I ordered it, but it’s proven to be a reliable way to keep my keys secure—far better than relying on my jeans’ change pocket. Context: Why I Needed This I work in sales and spend a lot of time outside, from sprawling commercial jobsites to remote storm water treatment facilities. Not long ago, while navigating one of those isolated sites, I lost my keys. Thankfully, I'm obsessive about checking for them, and I noticed quickly enough to begin searching. I usually tuck my F150 fob into my change pocket, and that setup works most of the time. But I’ve got a couple pairs of jeans that don’t hold the keys snugly—cue the ditch dive to retrieve them. This experience made me realize I needed a more secure carry method. My pockets are already filled with essentials like a wallet, flashlight, and pocketknife, so cramming a bulky keyring in there isn’t ideal—especially when I need quick access to machine keys on the job. Unboxing & Features The clip arrived in a clean, metal container with a sliding lid and included an extra keyring—a nice touch. Mechanically, here’s how it works: - A magnetically secured lever folds out to accept your keyring. - The lower rotating section opens with two-handed (for me anyway while it is on my belt) operation. - Once the ring is inserted, you “cam” the rotating portion back into place—there’s tension that makes it satisfying and secure. - Gravity and the magnetic lock complete the setup, snapping everything firmly shut. Once locked in, I applied substantial force to test retention—enough to nearly yank my pants down—and it still held firm. Also it fits over all of my belts that I have, it is not too thick or too thin. If you had a very thin belt it might be a tad too thick of an opening, making it loose/floppy but it has presented me with zero challenges. Design & Durability Concerns While the clip is well-machined and sleek, I do have long-term reliability concerns. My background in engine building makes me pay attention to wear points, and the area around the retaining pin is minimally reinforced. Even though titanium is strong, there’s visible play between the pin and its housing, which could mean premature wear over time. It hasn’t failed, but I’ll be monitoring it closely. Final Thoughts 4 stars - Excellent solution for those who need quick, reliable key access without stuffing their pockets. - Durable and thoughtfully engineered, though precision around the rotating pin could be improved. - Priced fairly for its titanium construction and machining quality. - 4 stars from me—secure, cool, and functional. I’ll revisit this review if my concerns play out, but for now, it’s a definite upgrade over my old setup.
