Rain boots in the Operating Room ***with one year update***

I am a Certified surgical tech, so I deal with fluids on the floor allllllll the time when I’m doing sports cases (knee or shoulder arthroscopy’s). Shoulder cases would ALWAYS soak my feet and the disposable booties don’t hold up well when it’s soaked bad. At one point it soaked my feet through disposable booties so I had to get patient socks, and someone randomly left some rain boots in the locker that was roughly my size. Used it and decided it was time to make the switch for those cases. I did a LOT of research on rain boots and came across these. Decided to give it a shot! My very first day these were a savior as I was doing a hydrocelectomy (have fun looking that surgery up lol!) and the fluid was spilled from my chest down to my feet. All I had to do was wipe it with a cavi wipe and it was brand new again. I’m about a month into using them and for a typical 8 hour day, my feet would start hurting by hour 4-5 due to no arch support in the sole. I ended up buying some Dr. Scholl plantar fascia soles to go in this. I’m still deciding if I want that sole to replace the original, or if I want to keep it on top of the original sole. I think I’m leaning towards replacing it fully just because my foot gets too squished in the shoe with both. I absolutely LOVE that I can just wipe down the boot with the cavi wipes we use to disinfect everything with! I haven’t noticed a smell, but I don’t really sweat In the OR since it’s 65 degrees or below in the rooms and they never leave the surgery center. I will say though, if you have cold water that’s constantly running on them, I do notice the cold. I think I have Raynauds syndrome so my hands and feet are always naturally cold. As for style, they look like typical rain boots. I do like the fact that it has a lace thing on the back so I can tighten it up at the top to keep my scrub pants leg in the boot!! I get real weird when things are rubbing against my bare legs or more specifically my ankles. This minimizes it by a lot if I’m wearing leggings under my scrubs. ***UPDATE*** I am just shy of a year out by a couple of weeks and I just noticed my boots are ripped making them not waterproof anymore. I have worn these almost every single day Monday through Friday for the last year. I’m sadden by this and now have to go back to the drawing board on a different brand. I had to look and I did not see any warranty information on Bogs website.
