A lot of fun!
I quite enjoyed putting this together. It comes nicely packaged in a blue box with a wood grain pattern. There are instruction pages for each of the buildings and things you are assembling. The instructions are simple pictures (no need to speak a certain language) and easy to follow, I usually only had to glance at them. There are some words on them in English and Chinese and the wood sheets with the pieces are labeled in English (No.Church, No. School, etc.). When you are using the instructions, it is important to assemble things in order. The Ferris wheel comes in its own separate little bag, is made out of thinner sheets of wood, and has instructions that are not like the others (still has pictures anyone can follow, but almost all the words are in Chinese). It seems kind of like a bonus item they added that maybe one could also buy separately. It does actually spin, though it spins better upside-down. I have weaker hands but didn't really have any problems punching out all the pieces from the wood sheets. Someone with larger fingers and very short nails (or maybe even very long nails) might find some difficulty getting some of the tiny pieces out. Some of the fountain pieces were the only ones I found difficult to punch out and I also found those same pieces hard to assemble. Otherwise, everything assembled easily enough (wouldn't recommend it if your hands are inflamed or in pain, though--luckily, mine weren't). Do note that the thin connecting-slivers of wood pose a splinter risk--so just be careful. Each building has two wood sheets of parts. They took advantage of any extra space on the building sheets to add more townspeople and dogs (I love that they weren't wasteful!). The assembled buildings seem sturdy and won't easily fall apart. The buildings have fun little details, including window frames, different kinds of doors, porch lights, and the bell in the church tower. The people are a little big in proportion to the buildings, but I know I wouldn't really want them to be any smaller. The cars, however, are hilariously big. I probably won't display them with the set. I also think they are unnecessary. I would definitely be happy to do one of these again. It was a quiet, fun, calming activity that kept me busy for a little bit. It didn't take me too long to assemble.
