Fun and engaging, but poses a major choking hazard

My cats absolutely love this new toy. If I let them, they would play with it for hours on end. However, due to a severe safety issue with the attachments breaking, I now only let them use it when I am closely supervising them. PROS 1) The green silicone cover is much firmer and more durable than the typical parachute material found on these types of toys. It also seems like it will be very easy to take off and wash. 2) The movement of the feather is genuinely random, which stymies my orange cat who usually studies toys to figure out their patterns. I appreciate that they included a second feather attachment as well. 3) It features two distinct speeds to keep the cats interested, and it makes a gentle chime sound when they successfully catch the feather before it shoots back out. 4) It has a unique dual-function design: it allows them to chase the feather, and when they do, it automatically releases a little treat or piece of food as a reward. I haven't seen this specific feature on any other toy. 5) The "Smart Touch" activation and standby features are excellent. The toy will work for 5 minutes and then go into standby mode. If the cats touch it again, it reactivates. If it isn't awakened within 3 hours, it automatically shuts off completely to save power. 6) It is fully rechargeable, so I do not have to constantly go through batteries. 7) It comes with a remote control, which is incredibly handy for turning it off from across the room right before I join a phone call or a Zoom meeting. CONS 1) MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD: My cats were able to completely separate the string from the plastic mount that threads into the machine. This left the string (with a few remaining feathers) completely loose on the floor (see photo), and they could easily have swallowed it, which would have been a disaster. Because of this flaw, I will only let them use the toy when I am actively watching them to catch it if it breaks again. 2) The instructions could have been much clearer and should have included explicit assembly information. When I first opened the box, it was unclear how to set it up. I didn't know if the green silicone mat needed to sit lower to the floor, how to attach the white cap with the cat ears, or that the slots in the base ring were meant for holding treats. 3) As with most feather toys, the feathers did not last long (less than 3 hours) because the cats chew on them and cause little pieces to come off. 4) My cat enjoys playing with the toy even when it is turned off and the feather attachment is removed, but he was able to bite or claw a hole into the green silicone cover pretty quickly. He was also able to figure out how to get the white lid (the part with the cat ears) off and chowed down on the remaining treats. 5) When the cats grab the feather attachment while the internal machine continues to turn, the resistance causes the attachment to partially unscrew from its port. After about 15 minutes of play, it completely unscrews itself and detaches from the machine.
