Not tear resistant, but still a purchase worthy of its price point.
I was looking for a cheap bulk batch of moving blankets when I came across these. The price point is suitable for a small move. However, these blankets are not reusable because they tear at the slightest pressure or if you are repositioning tape. Tape is their worst enemy, their most devious arch-nemesis. Now I’m not talking high-quality, heavy-duty packing tape. I mean low-grade packing tape, the sort intended for these things that barely sticks unless stuck to itself. Tape shreds these moving blankets while barely adhering to them. It rips them to pieces and exposes their inner depths. They are already tiny and see-through, so there isn’t much to see. Corners also do these blankets in. They poke straight thru, and a small puncture quickly becomes a gaping hole. Not sharp corners that would rip skin if bumped, but smooth rounded corners that are polished and varnished. Many of them fall short of the stated size by an inch or two, and being so thin, it takes multiple to wrap a small end table. However, you get what you pay for. I was searching for cheap moving blankets, and I found them. They worked for the most part. Table wings and bookshelf shelves wrapped up and stayed protected. Table legs were bundled and taped to stay together. The delicate larger pieces were mostly protected from bumps and scrapes. Removing them was both a nightmare and straightforward. It was a nightmare when I was trying to carefully remove the tape. The tape was mangling them like a butter knife, trying to go through ripe tomatoes. It became more manageable when I realized most of them could not be saved, and I just started slicing the tape and ripping through them with my bare hands as if they were paper towels. Because, yes, they are that simple to tear. So, would I repurchase them? Of course. I would invest in a small batch of heavier-duty moving pads as well. The pack had enough blankets that using multiple wasn’t a problem, and they got the job done with little difficulty. My main concern is that they are so torn that they can not be reused, which I feel is a waste. I’m not sure if these are recyclable, but it would make them even more worth the money. My overall recommendation is if you have lots of valuable furniture that you intend to keep assembled, these are for someone else. Instead, spend the money on heavy-duty moving pads and save yourself the headache. But, if you have boxes primarily and disassemble your furniture to wrap legs and shelves separately, these are an excellent cost-effective option.
