Quick and Easy Set-up

Let me first say starting off with this review that I had owned another, well known, brand of weather system for several years that served me pretty well, although I did have several problems with it including temperature sensor and display failures as well as the outside sensor failures to connect. So, I thought I'd give this system a try in hopes it would be more reliable over time. Here's my findings on the new system: 1.) Installation and initial set up was very easy and the outside sensor unit connected right away with a strong signal. I attached the outdoor sensor to a 10' piece of 3/4" EMT using the provided mounting bracket and then mounted the pole to my back fence. Please note that the short mounting pole that was provided is oval shaped rather than being round. I'm not particularly fond of the way the mounting bracket looks but it does the job just fine and can be used in other mounting configurations. I think later I may just use some hose clamps that I think will look better. It would have been nice is the outside sensor had a round hole on the bottom, as my old system had, that would allow mounting of a 3/4" piece of PVC or EMT rather than using the provided oval mounting pole. 2.) The system was delivered and installed on November 8, 2023 so I've had it now for a little over a week. So far, no operational problems whatsoever have occured. 3.) The system comes with a very good printed manual as well as a nice color "quick set up" guide that is very helpful. 4.) The display is very clear, although I wish it was a bit larger like my last system. It can be operated off of just batteries alone but I choose to use the provided A/C power adapter but I did install the batteries just in case of power loss that often occurs where I live in southeast Texas. 5.) The indoor display has a very good calibration feature should you wish to calibrate the sensor readings to a known source for your location such as AccuWeather, The Weather Channel or from a local airport. After detailed calibration, I found that the system tracks with the reported information from my selected source with only very slight variations from time to time. 6.) The inside and outside temperature and humidity readouts have indicator arrows showing their trends whereas, the barometric pressure does not and would prefer that it did too. 7.) The weather icon is just an estimation or generalization only and is pretty much a waste other than looking nice in my opinion. 8.) The moon phases icon works just fine and is a nice feature on the display. 9.) The rain info can be selected to display what has occurred in either the last hour, 24 hours, week, month or total since start up. All-in-all I am very happy with this system and feel it's of very good quality for the money. Only time will tell how well the system holds up in the future with the radical changes of weather we get and shall plan to update this review with anything noteworthy, good or bad. We shall see!
