False Advertising - NOT PURE SILK
As my title states, this is not pure silk. I already had my doubts because of the prize, but thought I'd give them a chance since the information they presented seemed legit and "transparent." Plus, I really needed a new one, because my actual real silk cap, which was handmade by a seller no longer in business, had stretched out over the years from improper care (totally my fault). I didn't want to deal with the constant slipping, and was hoping to find an affordable seller. Hence, YFONG. My bf gladly purchased it for me, and I feel so bad I fell for the false advertisement. You definitely get what you pay for when it comes to silk products. Its pureness - or lack thereof - was difficult to ascertain at first, because it passed the burn test and felt ever so slightly luxurious. But... the high gloss shine (which they try to justify by stating they intentionally added gloss for more shine... like, why would you even do that to pure silk?!), squeaky texture when submerged in water, and underwhelming support/results it gave my hair (didn't result in significant softness or shine) confirmed my doubts. In contrast, my old 22 momme double-layered silk cap absorbs light while maintaining its shine, is extremely soft and feels like baby skin, and is velvety butter when submerged in water. Though stretched out, it continues to help my hair with smoothness and high shine. Needless to say, I went back to using my old bonnet! YFONG's OEKO TEX certificate also proves it's not 100% silk (see attached pics). They may try to say the "mixture" part is from the bonnet tie, but it's very clear from appearance and texture that the cap itself is mixed with other types of fibers. I added Lilysilk's OEKO TEX results for comparison. In case you're wondering, I didn't go with Lilysilk because I wanted higher silk grade and they tend to overcharge their products. Ya know, I would have happily rated YFONG's product 5 stars if it wasn't for the fact that they blatantly lied and falsely advertised. Yes, it is higher quality than most satin products. Yes, they used 100% silk in their product, per OEKO TEX certification. No, the product itself (specifically the cap) is not actually 100% silk. The silk is mixed with other fibers. I cannot stand unethical and deceptive business practices! In conclusion, do not buy this if you are looking for a pure silk bonnet cap. Do not buy this if you don't support unethical business practices. Buy this if you don't care either way.
