Yolink works great

Prior to purchasing Yolink valves, I installed a water usage device on the main water valve located at the sidewalk. I have had leaks in the past and wanted to be able to receive notifications of leaks. My intuition paid off. The device which is from another company sent me notifications that I had a massive leak while I was out of town. My neighbor was able identify the leak and turned off the irrigation valve for outside watering saving hundreds of dollars. I wanted to automate my system for future leaks and found Yolink. After reading about them, I purchased and installed one on the home water valve that supplies water to all inside faucets, toilets and hot water tank and one on the irrigation valve. I also purchased the leak sensors and placed them everywhere a leak would be possible such as around toilets, underneath the sinks and in the irrigation box where the other leak occurred. I tested each sensor and they turned off their respect valves when just a tiny bit of water touched the sensor. Now I can monitor my water usage and compare to the city water statements which have been very close. I was able to find other irrigation leaks and fixed them. The Yolink sensors and valves are managed through the Yolink hub and app. I can view their status as well as turn the valves off and on remotely from the app if needed and the sensors will automatically turn the valves off when they come in contact with just little bit of water, even without internet service, by simply pairing the sensor to the valve. What confirmed my need for these valves was when just one week prior to adding the sensors and irrigation valve, there was another major water leak in my detached garage at 1 AM in the morning. I was home, but unfortunately, I did not have the sensors and valve installed. I did have a water alarm sensor through my security system and although it was sending warnings to my phone, I was sleeping and did not hear or see them. Fortunately, the water sprayed directly on the garage door opener and it shorted and opened the garage door triggering the motion sensor alarm, since I keep that on during the night. That woke me up along with calls from the security company. The security water sensor only sends warnings to my phone, whereas motion sensors will send to the security company. It was the motion sensor that trigger the alarm to the security company. After seeing that it was a water leak, I hung up with the security team and the wife and I began the long and painful process of removing the water, cleaning and drying everything. It had been spraying for over an hour. Eventually, everything dried leaving only the need to replace the garage door opener, which I did a few days later. I wish I had the sensors and valve a week earlier but the good news is that I have them now. While insurance usually covers leaks and water damage, don't let that be your defense. Fortunately, I did not need to file a claim. It also could take weeks to get an adjuster and then the time to fix the water damage and inconvenience. In my experience, at some time, there will be a water leak and Yolink is best defense to stop any damage. The worst-case scenario is that it happens at night or while away and just 5 minutes of water pouring into your home from under a sink or toilet could be devastating!
