Customer's headline

Overall I am happy with the Yolink GDC itself.

I have two Yolink Garage Door Controllers (YS4906-UC): one for my garage bay door and one for my automated gate. The Yolink GDC is usually coupled with other devices so reviewing it by itself is limited. It is nicely sized ~2"x2"x1". Connections are simple: two recessed screw terminals that accept 5V (included is a tinned cut-end USB-A cable) and two recessed screw terminals from its internal normally open dry contacts relay to control your garage door opener. It does draw a considerable amount of current (I measured about 13mA directly from the GDC and my 12V to 5V USB hub drew another 4mA) so keep this in mind if using battery applications to power the GDC. FYI, my gate is ~7200mAH so will power the GDC several days although the gate itself will drain it after a few uses during total power loss; if the garage loses power then I will not need the GDC :) The Yolink GDC receiver's response is very quick and the distance is several hundred feet even with a metal garage bay door. The mounting options are limited as there are no screw holes tabs; however I utilize 3M loop fasteners on the back of the GDC and the mounting target location. As with all Yolink products I've used, it is VERY easy to add to your smart home system using their QR codes. So far no one does it better or easier. Working with smart devices a lot, I have learned to do as much wiring, registrations, configurations and verifications with the device app(s) and Alexa routines as possible at my desk with my phone and computer...BEFORE mounting it at final location. I chose to use the Yolink Door Sensor (YS7704-JC) instead of the YoLink Garage Door Sensor (YS-7705-UC) because if my garage door is open even 2 inches I want to know. I can always add the other kind of sensor and bind that to the GDC. As I said, the Yolink GDC is usually coupled with other devices--besides the mandatory Yolink hub--such as a sensor for open/close status, a remote such as SmartFob or FlexFob, or Amazon Alexa routine trigger. Or one could use the Yolink app on a phone/tablet and open/close the GDC but this is cumbersome if the app is not already open. With FlexFob, the GDC cannot benefit from short/long press; it just performs a single function (the O/C button). So the Yolink GDC ease of use is affected by how it works with the devices that send it commands and monitor its status'. Overall I am happy with the Yolink GDC itself. The supporting components like the FOBs, sensors, app, etc., there are some things I don't like but it seems they can be improved with just software and/or greater Alexa integration and that's a good thing. Yolink support is very good and responsive and that I like too!
